Zarate
What do you see his future at the club. He's got a 3 year deal by all accounts, but seemingly Allardyce is not a big fan, and he now finds himself well down the list of attackers.

Having gone from playing at the top of the diamond role 2 games ago, to now being being Downing, Amalfitano, Nolan, and in all likelihood Sam would push one of our other midfielders higher up, or pull Valencia in before getting Zarate a start.

With all the talk if this being a 'Sullivan signing', does he have a future with us?

You know you're not favoured when Carlton Cole comes on in front of you.

Genuinely thought we'd seen the last of Carlton.

Should have known better.

Re: Zarate
I have a feeling he'll be gone by January. I said from this from the start, and playing Nolan and Cole on saturday....I'm going to go with my gut feeling.

He's attributes do not fit a Sam Allardyce side.

As van Gaal said on saturday, West Ham play long ball.

Re: Zarate
He had a decent start to the season but was frustrating in the Hull game, kept trying to do too much on his own, not passing when other players were in better positions etc and you could see some of his team mates were getting frustrated with him too. Wouldn't surprise me if that's why he got dropped for the Liverpool game, obviously we played well so there was no reason to bring him back in. he's part of a decent squad now and will have to work to get his place back, and rightly so.

Re: Zarate
Horses for courses, he'll get a turn again and will need to take advantage, if he can't then we move on, same as always.

Good player and should have come on Saturday. I think the subs made cost us a point.

Re: Zarate
Must admit I thought he was our best player in the first half at Hull.

But you just know now that Nolan is fit, and Carroll will be in the not too distant future, Allardyce will be itching to get plan A back up and running.

Feel bad for Mauro. A true West Ham type player, leading scorer in the Argentine league last year, and clearly got lots of ability, but as others have said, a player that Allardyce has been loathe to praise at any stage.

Surely a sign that it was not his pick!

Cole was always gonna have half a chance where he'd inevitably fuck it up.

Re: Zarate
If it's true Man Utd had all players behind the ball then Zarate would have just tried to go through them and failed. If he was this player some have him up as then he would try a different tactic and sneak onto say a Downing pass but he doesn't so it's down to the player to adapt. He's adapting the hard way by the looks of it because he scored a cracker at Palace.

i don't know about the 10 men of Man U, but i certainly broke down when Cole and Nolan came on.

Re: Zarate
Allardyce said something about Zarate after the Palace game that suggests he knew little about his game. I think he'll find it tough to get game time whilst Allardyce is still here.

'Horses for courses'

How on earth do you come up with that? You think Cole is a better option when you're desperate for a goal?

ED

Depends, we played a lot more direct balls into the box from the back and crosses from wide, I would guess to try to pin them back and take advantage of their young central defender in the air. I can see why the manager brought on the players he did, whether I agree with it or not.

Re: Zarate
I can understand why BFS put Carlton and Nolan on to put pressure on their debutant 19 year old defender. It didn't actually work though did it?

That is why I believe BFS was going on about the off-side goal. It was offside according to the rules but not BFS. He wanted a reason for his route one to be proven to work. It doesn't even when we have the best old fashioned British CF in the side....

I feel sorry for Zarate. He like Morrison could be good if they ever get a chance to prove it but BFS doesn't work that way. Players have to prove they can play his way....

Nolan very nearly equalised, a lot of linos would've given that. And as I said, i can see WHY he made the subs, even if I didn't agree with them. Brining Zarate on also may not have worked, we will never know.

Re: Zarate
We tried to pull back a two goal deficit. Narrowly failed but had opportunities like the offside goal which might have been given had ManU scored it for example.

Let's move on having been narrowly defeated at OT.
